you don't have to be from wisconsin to enjoy this blog, but it sure does help.

Note to self: Go to the Roman Coin, ASAP.
Reasons:
It opens at 9:00 AM.
OK we’re done. That’s the only reason that I need. Good night.
Alright, fine. There are more reasons than that.
Capt. Frederick Pabst commissioned the building in 1890. Because we old school like that.
In the 1940s it was called Happy Go Lucky. I’m guessing it sounds a lot more adorable than it actually was.
It’s been family-owned since 1966. Roots.
There’s an old two-lane bowling alley in the basement. (Granted, they now use it for storage space, but still…it’s there!)
Prices are unbeatable. Pocket change should cover you.
Oh, and there’s also their amazing, only-in-Milwaukee shot special:
$1 MYSTERY SHOTS, ALL THE TIME.
Mystery shots. For $1. For those of you who don’t know, that’s code for, “Alcoholics can drink here nonstop for super cheap.”
Yep..
I gotta get my ass over there, ASAP.

Spotlight on: The Nomad World Pub.

I love the Nomad.

Good people, great location, great specials.

But what’s going to happen to their price fixe special (pictured above) now that there’s no more indoor smoking? It’s $5 for a PBR, a shot of Jameson, and one cigarette.

Brady Street Pharmacy.
Back when I was little, I used to come here and buy candy.
When I got older, it was cigarettes. And by older, I mean like 15. Cigs were only about $3 then if my memory serves me correctly.
There was this group of old Italian men who would sit around and eat greasy brunch and drink coffee in there on Sundays. Talking about the value of the Italian lira to the U.S. dollar and other things that my little head didn’t understand yet.

Home of “The best cannoli in Milwaukee” (according to one-time online reviewer cannolilover), Peter Sciortino’s Italian Bakery on Brady Street in Milwaukee smells better than any single place I’ve ever been in my entire life.
If you’ve even walked by it, at any time of day or night, you know exactly what I’m talking about.
They must be baking up a nice batch of crack cocaine in there or something, because I just can’t get enough!
