you don't have to be from wisconsin to enjoy this blog, but it sure does help.

Milwaukee, Wis. — So President Obama is coming to Wisconsin later this month for the fourth time since he’s taken over the presidency. He’s coming to do a bit of very necessary campaign work for Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett who isn’t exactly having the world’s easiest time with his gubernatorial race at the moment.
Obama will speak at an August 16 fund-raising luncheon for Barrett at which the price to take a photo with the President will be $10,000.
Geez. I didn’t realize that “photo with the President” was on the a’la carte pricing menu these days. I mean, I didn’t realize there was an a’la carte menu to begin with.
I wonder if there’s a student discount. I mean, honestly. Is that price negotiable? I’m going with no.

The Schlitz Brewery building collapsed in August of 1942 in Milwaukee. And everyone came out to see the show.

This is a photo of Athletic Field in Milwaukee, Wis. which was renamed Borchert Field in 1930. The Brewers played here until 1952 when County Stadium was built. This photo was taken sometime between the year 1900-1911.
I really love the awesome ads painted to the brick walls. Those are classic names in the Mil. Gaffney’s, Blatz, Edelweiss…
Thanks to @MuchoMilwaukee for the info!

Today’s Old-School Wisco Photo of the Day comes at us straight from the year 1974.
It’s Mitchell Field - the Milwaukee airport’s name before it became the exotic metropolitan gateway to Canada the world that it is now, Mitchell International Airport.

Milwaukee, Wis. - Fourth of July on the beach in 1954.
Dayum, that shit is crowded! That must be before E.coli started tainting the once-pristine shores of Lake Michigan.
Also, check out the wedgie on the guy in the right-hand foreground. Hahaha.

Germania, Wis. - Here’s a great shot of the townsfolk celebrating the Fourth of July in the year 1911.
I’m kind of confused about what’s going on in this picture, though.
What are they all looking at? Why is the cameraman so far away? What are the people on the side waiting for? Why are they all standing in a big straight line? Are they getting ready to play Red Rover with Wautoma or something?
